Large Lulu - Fixed Blade Knife - A2

The Large Lulu is here. Even though it was made in Ohio, this knife is anything but Ohio. Which, we've been informed, is a word used to mean cringey. Ohio shops are good, Ohio adjectives are bad.

The Large Lulu is our USA made, fixed blade. Everything about this knife carries true American pride. When we say USA Made, we mean it. The knife itself is produced here, yes, but everything down to the sticker on the box is sourced locally in the US. We're so stoked about the manufacturing process of this knife that we're gonna tell you way too may details. You ready?

This knife is made in Ohio with true knife artisans. It starts by laser cutting a blank, then after that nearly everything has human hands crafting each knife. There's no CNC machine used here! Through a subtractive manufacturing technique, a real person is grinding and sanding the blade in a semi-custom hand finishing technique.

Micarta has long been a fan favorite, so of course we had to give it to our best girl. But adding a natural material to steel doesn't hold its shape well (we learned that the hard way), so we have added G10 liner inlays. This provides the needed support that micarta can't offer, but the bonus is that it looks goooood. That red streak perfectly frames the striker spine-- practical and pretty.

Our favorite part is the custom fitted sheaths created by our in-house wizard Keith. Why does each sheath need to be hand-fitted? Because each blade is hand-made, there was no way to copy + paste a sheath design. You see where we're coming from with the true American pride, right? This is the salt of the earth kind of stuff. Keith is hand-fitting each sheath so it makes the most perfect click each time you slide that Lulu home. Ah. Sends shivers down our spines, Amigos.

Now, onto the knife itself.

The blade is made from A2 steel, which has been tried and tested for decades. This is the steel your grandpa carried-- it survived him, and it's also going to survive you.

It might seem obvious, but it's also bigger. Bigger is important for three reasons: a better grip for those of Herculean size among us, a full grip for normal hands, and it makes for better batoning.

Look, a knife isn't only about batoning, but dangit, batoning sure brings a lot of joy.

The Large Lulu also boasts a full flat grind.

This Lulu is named after a favorite mountain pass in Southern Montana. Who was that pass named after? That's a different story for another time.
